A payment made by the Federal Government to an insurance company on behalf of a taxpayer (or dependent) to reduce his/her monthly premiums for health insurance. PTC assistance was based on anticipated annual income claimed on the PTC application, so it must be reconciled with actual annual income on the tax return for that year.
