Many IRS laptop (HP EliteBook 6930p) users are experiencing dim laptop screens. While it could be the laptop is old and tired, it never hurts to make sure the brightness adjustment is at maximum. Refer to the following illustration and text for the correct method to make the adjustment.
- To brighten the screen, press and HOLD DOWN the 'fn' key while repeatedly pressing the F10 key.
(A small popup window with a horizontal 'thermometer' will appear on the display after pressing the F10 key. The bar will move to the right as brightness is increased, and will be all the way to the right end of the scale when the adjustment is at maximum.)
- To darken the screen, press and HOLD DOWN the 'fn' key while repeatedly pressing the F9 key.
(The popup window will also appear after pressing the F9 key. The bar will disappear off the left end of the scale when the adjustment is at minimum.)
It is important to remember the 'fn' key ENABLES the function keys. If the 'fn' key is not held down, the function keys will not work.
It is also important to remember the screen will be less bright if you are using battery power instead of having the charger plugged in.
